Riviera Maya has evolved. It’s no longer just about noisy all-inclusives with a lack of personality. It’s now one of the most design-forward, luxury-driven destinations with unique gastronomic experiences in the Americas.
I am Fernanda Silva, founder of Travel Luxe Collection, a luxury hotel representation company based in Sao Paulo, Brazil. As a luxury travel specialist it’s very clear for me that “we can only sell what we have lived” and that’s why our curated hosted fam-trips really matter.
To showcase the new face of luxury in Riviera Maya, I invited 6 of Brazil’s top travel advisors on a 6-night immersion across 5 distinctive properties. From world-class dining and spa rituals to cooking classes and Mayan ceremonies, each hotel offered us a true taste of the destination. Here’s a brief summary of the properties we stayed at and experienced:
1. The St. Regis Kanai Resort
Riviera Maya – Kanai Complex

Location & Style
Set on a pristine private beach within the 620-acre Kanai development, 30 min from Cancun Airport.
Hotel Design
Bright, elegant, and spacious. Mayan-inspired décor, natural stone, and lush grounds.
Rooms
124 rooms and suites. All with ocean or mangrove views and private terraces, some with private pools.
For the Traveler
Families, couples, and incentive groups who want a 5-star luxury service with lots of space.
Gastronomy Highlights
Toro by Chef Richard Sandoval offers bespoke Latin American dining in a stylish, home-like setting, Chaya for Italian cuisine, Riviera for beachfront seafood.
Spa
The St. Regis Spa – an opulent sanctuary offering face and body treatments and wellness rituals. It features a secret garden with hydrotherapy zones, sauna, steam room, and hot tub.
What We Experienced
Over the top gastronomical meals at Riviera and Toro restaurants. A St Regis “Kanai Mary”cocktail class. An afternoon in one of their exclusive private pool cabanas with drinks and snacks.

2. The Riviera Maya EDITION at Kanai
Riviera Maya – Kanai Complex

Location & Style
The first EDITION in Mexico, set within Kanai nature reserve. 182 rooms and suites with EDITION’s signature laidback luxury.
Hotel Design
The cenote-inspired lobby has plants coming from the ceiling (very unique). Custom art, Mayan ceramics and lots of ceramic vases with plants all over the hotel.
Rooms
The rooms are more minimalist with whites and light wood colors. The hotel also has a 2,500 sqm Rooftop Penthouse (really impressive).
For the Traveler
Couples, honeymooners. Adults-focused.
Gastronomy Highlights
KI’IS – contemporary fine-dining, SO’OL – Mexican cuisine beach club, Kitchen – comfort food from breakfast to dinner, Lobby Bar – impressive design decorated with old Mayan objects.
Spa
Cenote-inspired EDITION Spa with Mayan experiences and rituals.
What We Experienced
Over the top gastronomical meals at Ki’is and Kitchen restaurants. An immersion in the EDITION Spa with a very unique experience with sound healing, mandala and soul cleansing.

Location & Style
Belmond luxury on one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. 72 suites across 200+ acres of jungle and coastline. Renovated in 2022 with Mayan heritage and authenticity.

Authentic Mexican charm with handcrafted regional materials, tiles, and textiles.
Rooms
Bespoke suites with furniture made by Mexican artisans like hand-painted floor ceramic tiles and local fabrics in the décor.

Gastronomy Highlights
Casa Mayor – Main sea-front restaurant with Mexican flavours sourced locally with fresh seafood and fish, Wooden by Curtis Stone – Fine dining, wood-fired grill cuisine by Michelin chef Curtis Stone.

Maroma Spa by Guerlain – The only Guerlain Spa in Latin America. They also have a unique on-site apothecary called Arborium where clients can experiment with local fees-herbs for their treatments.

Rustic-chic with natural materials and art pieces and furniture brought by Asia by the owner. Built for nature contemplation and privacy.

Only 30 suites. Tropical and ocean-view suites with understated luxury design.
